The
Centre for Development Finance (CDF)
at IFMR explores the mechanism of
public and private sector partnerships
as they increasingly come together
to fund infrastructure projects.
One of its most promising projects
has been with the Decentralised
Energy Systems India (DESI ) Power
which seeks to to scale up a successful
alternate energy project in rural
India.

The Small Enterprises Finance Centre
(SEFC) ( www.ifmr.ac.in/sefc)
also located at IFMR seeks to advance
the practice of small and medium
enterprises (SME) financing and
growth with a view to energising
the sector. The Centre also plans
to offer regular and advanced training
to educate and sensitise Indian
bankers to the potential of SME
financing.
Risk mitigating measures such as
insurance are very critical in reducing
the vulnerability of the poor. The
Centre for Insurance and Risk Management
(CIRM) ( www.ifmr.ac.in/cirm)
at the Institute for Financial Management
Research (IFMR) focuses on developing
insurance product development capabilities,
research, training and building
an enabling environment in the country
to ensure outreach of insurance.
