The Knowledge Edge
The Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) (www.ifmr.ac.in.) is a leading business school with a strong focus on finance. It has supported the start and launch of many new ventures at ICICI Bank. Recently it has supported the creation of market networks

Research in the critical area of microfinance has led to the formation of the Centre for Microfinance (CMF) (www.ifmr.ac.in/cmf) the first of many centres supported by ICICI Bank. CMF promotes research on microfinance and livelihood financing, research-based policy advocacy and training for practitioners and institutions as well as strategy building for MFIs.

The MSU also explores livelihood opportunities for microcredit clients.

The Centre also plans to offer regular and advanced training to educate and sensitise Indian bankers to the potential of SME financing.

Risk mitigating measures such as insurance are very critical in reducing the vulnerability of the poor. The Centre for Insurance and Risk Management (CIRM) (www.ifmr.ac.in/cirm) at the Institute for Financial Management Research (IFMR) focuses on developing insurance product development capabilities, research, training and building an enabling environment in the country to ensure outreach of insurance.
